On November 2, 2018, the 2nd All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference "PARALLELS AND CONTRAST: LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION" took place at National University “Odesa Law Academy”. The conference brought together scholars from different linguistic fields for a fruitful discussion on such topics as similarities and differences in languages and various types of discourse: political, mass-media, legal, translation, etc.
The work of the conference was warmly welcomed by the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the National University "Odessa Law Academy", Doctor of Law, Professor V.O. Tulyakov, the Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics and Translation of the International Humanitarian University (Odesa), Doctor of Philology, Professor M.I. Zubov, the Deputy dean of the Faculty of International Legal Relations, Associate professor, M.U. Katsyn, and the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages No. 2 of the National University "Odessa Law Academy", Doctor of Philology, Professor N.V. Petlyuchenko.
The conference was attended by not only well-known professors and associate professors, but also graduate students and young scientists. Nearly 60 participants from different universities of Ukraine participated in the discussion of the 2nd All-Ukrainian Conference "PARALLELS AND CONTRAST: LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION". Among them are National University "Odessa Law Academy", International Humanitarian University, Odessa National University named after I. I. Mechnikov, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Zaporizhzhya National University, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Participant’s abstracts were accepted in Ukrainian, Russian, English and German. Materials of the 2nd All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference "PARALLELS AND CONTRAST: LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION" ware published in a separate collection that had came out of print before the conference began. The abstracts collection contains research on problems of comparative-historical, typological, comparative, intercultural, contact linguistics, legal linguistics, political science, methods of teaching foreign languages, translation and communication theory.
